Brief Introduction
 
Founded in September of 1983, the China Cleaning Industry AssociationCCIAis a NGO and under the capacity of its 6th Council right now. CCIA is approved by China Ministry of Civil Affairs, and administrated by State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC).
 
Property
A national NPO & NGO of enterprises, public services, research institutions, information centers and educational units for soap, detergent, surfactant and oleochemical industries as well as some relative realms.  
 
Mission
To abide by laws, regulations and governmental policies, observe public ethics and customs, be a good advisor and helper to the government, reflect the wishes and requirements of its members, promote exchanges and communications between the government and enterprises, focus on the service for its members, protect consumers’ rights, and serve for the socialist harmony and industry progress.
 
Domain of Operation
Establish industrial regulations and promote their implementation;
 
Reflect to the government the wishes and requirements of members as well as relevant industrial issues, and bring about relevant recommendations in a bid to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of its members;
 
Investigate and research issues appear in the development of the concerning line sectors, and set forth relevant suggestions to the government;
 
Join in the establishment and revision of technical, economic and managing standards in relevant line sectors, and promote their implementation under the authorization of the government;
 
Carry out statistical work, information collection and release, market analysis and forecast to serve for the government and industry;
 
Conduct autonomic supervision for product quality, release information of product quality, and promote high quality products and new technology & products;
 
Hold the domestic and international technology communication, exhibitions and trade fairs;
 
Organize related technical training, professional education and grade assessment under consignation;
 
Provide the services such as the promotion, application and consultation of new technology, process and products at home and abroad;
 
Undertake the propaganda campaign for industry, enterprises as well as scientific knowledge;
 
Edit and publish journals of the Association and Brief News, construct and develop industrial information website;
 
Fulfill tasks assigned by governmental authorities or other organizations;
 
Involve itself in public welfare undertaking and other activities in favor of the line sectors.

Profile of Cleaning Industry
Cleaning industry is playing an important role in the national economy, which includes products of personal care, household care, I & I cleanser, as well as their main raw materials and additives, such as oil, LAB, fatty alcohol, surfactant, STPP, zeolite 4A, enzymes, brightener, perfume etc., and oleochemicals such as fatty alcohol , stearic acid, stearic oil, fatty amine and glycerin, as well as special equipment and packing materials.
In 2009, total volume of cleaning products (personal and household) was 7.81 million tons, achieving total output value RMB 104.4 billion and sales value RMB 97.7 billion. Annual consumption is 6.0 kg per capita, with an increase of about 10% in recent years.
CCIA is now working on I&I cleansers starting with regulations and standards.
