Profile of China Association of Surfactant Soap and Detergent Industries （CASSDI）

Founded in September of 1983, the China Association of Surfactant Soap and Detergent Industries (CASSDI), a NGO under the administration of the StateEconomic and Trade Commission, is right now under the capacity of the 5th Session of its Board of Directors. Its purposes and domain of operation go as follows:

Tenets of CASSDI are read as: to abide by the Constitution, laws, regulations and relevant rules; observe public ethics and customs; get the most out of its role as an advisor and helper to the governmental agencies; reflect the wishes and requirements of businesses in the line sectors; promote exchanges and communications between the government and enterprises; serve for the industrial progressin the concerning line sectors and the socialist modernization drive.

Domain of Operation

Check, collect as well as sort out basic industrial information, conduct studies on domestic and international development status of the concerning line sectors, and set forth relevant suggestions; Reflect to the government the wishes and requirements of members as well as relevant industrial issues, and bring about relevant recommendations in a bid to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of its members;

Fulfil tasks assigned by governmental authorities or other organizations; Promote, among members, collaboration of various forms in various areas, coordinate their production, raw materials procurement, business operation and technical cooperation, as well as mediate and resolve the conflicts arising between them;

Strengthen relations among members, summarize and exchange information and experiences with respect to production technologies, operation and management; promote industrial technical advancement and improvement of operational management; Offer consulting services, conduct market forecast and offer,domestic and international,as well as technical and market information to its members;

Enhance its relations with relevant foreign counterparts and get involved in the international economic and technical cooperation and exchange; Provide training in various forms to employees of its members and instruct the concerning enterprises to ameliorate their operation as well as management capability in competition;

Edit and publish journals of the Association; Hold relevant exhibtions as well as technical conferences and trade fairs;

Involve itself in public welfare undertaking and other activities in favor of the line sectors.

Through close links with international society, CASSDI involves itself with much enthusiasm in relevant conferences to obtain relevant information and pave the way for exchange visits and communications with its foreign counterparts.

Surfactant soap and detergent industry consists of segments involved in production of cleansers for personal, household and industrial use. Main products include soap and synthetic detergent in solid, paste and liquid forms as well as main raw materials and additives for synthetic detergent, such as linear alkyl benzene, fatty alcohol, surfactants, detergent builders , carboxyl methyl cellulose, detergent enzymes, optical brighteners as well as glycerine, fatty acids and hydrogenated oils related to production of soap.

China is now among the countries with the largest production volume of cleansers and detergents in the world. Its full spectrum of product varieties can meet requirements from various segments for various uses. With a per capita annual consumption of 3 kilograms of detergent, China has witnessed an increase of about 5% in consumption of detergent in recent years. With an increase in export of surfactants, synthetic detergents, soap, as well as their specific raw materials, Chinese surfactant soap and detergent industry has evolved into an inportant industry sector in the national economy, which comprises of enterprises involved in production of surfactants, synthetic detergents, soap and relevant additives as well as other relevant research and educational institutions..

Its members include enterprises involved in production of detergents and cleansers and relevant raw materials, additives and packages, as well as relevant organizations involved in technical research and design, information collection, publication, specific equipment manufacturing and the educational colleges and schools. CASSDI so far has over 300 members, among which,production enterprisees account for 76%, with the rest coming from technical research, specific equipment development and educational organizations.
